Sunscreen, also known as sunblock, is a product with sun protection factor which prevents sunburns and decreases the risk of skin cancer by absorbing or reflecting some of the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) on the skin exposed to sunlight.
The sun protection factor (SPF) of a sun protection product is a laboratory measure of the effectiveness of sunscreen. The higher the SPF value (e.g., SPF 50) indicates the more protection a sun protection product could offer against the damaging of UV-B. Whereas, the protections against UV-A is measure with the PA system (e.g., PA+ to PA+++).
